Hello and welcome to Gabriola Islander, my new personal site (I have others for various purposes). I finally managed to get around to switching servers and platform which I hope will prove more stable. The next task ahead of me then is to flesh out the actual site, daunting in light of my current workload. I’m nothing if not persistent though and this has been in the queue for some time.
Who Am I?
My name is Mark. I’m a middle-aged, software developer, an unapologetic nerd. I live on a small, verdant island some twenty minutes east (by ferry) of Nanaimo, British Columbia. I moved to Gabriola in 2005 from Saskatchewan. As you might imagine, it was an adjustment. Overall the transition has been a reasonably pleasant one, however. Never would I consider returning to the prairies, except perhaps to visit. Those inescapable swarms of mosquitoes and fifty-below zero, vinyl car seats are thankfully behind me.
